Guide for international staff

Welcome to the University of Eastern Finland!

We are pleased to welcome you to the staff of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). Your new workplace is an expert organisation that produces a high level of teaching, research and development services. You are now part of this organisation and your contributions are important for the success of the university.

Making the decision to move to Finland can be a complex process with many aspects to consider. This website has been designed to help the international staff both to prepare their move to Finland, identify the main things that need to be taken care of when arriving in Finland. It also works as a handbook whilst working in Finland.

As a foreigner, it is necessary to go through several administrative procedures in order to live and work in Finland. You can count on the advise and support of the International Staff Services to help you with this (contact information below). To ease your adjustment to Finland, we advise you to read this guide carefully to make sure that you are as well prepared as possible for your stay at the University of Eastern Finland.

The university also organises welcoming sessions for new employees on the main campuses twice a year. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
