Recognition of prior learning (RPL) refers to a set of practices and procedures that can be used to assess the prior learning of a student and to approve it as part of the student's studies. Assessment is always based on the learning outcomes of the course that is being substituted.
You can apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) in the Peppi system. The responsible teacher may decide for direct substitution of the study unit or ask for RPL demonstration. The recognition of prior learning is always based on the learning outcomes of the course that is being substituted. You can find the learning outcomes of the study units and information about the responsible teachers in the Library's study guide (Studies provided by UEF library). Please, consult the teacher before starting the RPL procedure.
The library courses cannot be partly accredited through RPL.
Criteria for substitution
Courses, provided by the library, can be substituted by a prior course with corresponding level and content. The credit must not be more than five (5) years old. The required competence can also have been acquired by other studies, training or work experience. When direct credit transfer is not possible, you can be asked to demonstrate your previous competence by an RPL demonstration, that is assignments related to information retrieval in your field of science.
Apply for RPL in Peppi
In the library, please address the application to the responsible teacher, or in his/her absence, to the substitute teacher (find him/her in the study guide under Person in charge). Contact the teacher before applying. You can apply for RPL in Peppi. Please find further instructions in Peppi Handbook. In the application you should provide all necessary documents, such as transcripts of records or other certificates of performance or competency in good and legible quality.
The library has a right to request for more information. If the additional information is not provided in due time, the inadequate application will not be considered. The teacher of the course (or in his/her absence the substitute teacher) has right either to approve or disapprove the application.
Rectification
If you are not satisfied with the decision, you have the right to apply for rectification verbally or in writing within 14 days.
RPL process of the Library was accepted by the UEF Library management group in 24.5.2017. Updated 11.7.2022 to meet the general principles for the recognition of prior learning and the RPL process in the Peppi system.
