The University of Eastern Finland organises several science events each year. The purpose of the events is to share evidence-based information to the general public. Our traditional science-themed events include Café Smart and Science Forum events.
Café Smarts
The University of Eastern Finland’s Café Smarts are science-themed events in which the general public is served evidence-based information over a cup of coffee. In Café Smarts, the university’s researchers and specialists discuss current and exciting topics in the fields of science and research. Café Smarts are organised by the Communications and Media Relations Unit of the University of Eastern Finland together with the university’s researchers.
Science Forum
Science Forum is a national science event open to everyone, where researchers from various fields of science discuss science and research as well as the possibilities of science.
At the University of Eastern Finland, the programme of Science Forum contains expert lectures, topical discussions, and demonstrations and exhibitions on the research carried out at the university.
The national bodies organising the Science Days are the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, the Finnish Society of Science and Letters, the Finnish Academy of Technology, and the Swedish Academy of Technology and Science in Finland. The Science Forum is supported by Tieteen tiedotus ry and Kone Foundation.
