Addition to the bulletin of 30 April 2024: Selection of top candidates to proceed to public hearings and the second interview.
The Board of the University of Eastern Finland selected 10 Vice Rector candidates for interviews at its meeting of 25 April.
As regards the post of Vice Rector for Research, the following applicants from the University of Eastern Finland will continue in the recruitment process:
- Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology, Professor of Ecotoxicology, PhD Jussi Kukkonen
- Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor of Clinical Nutrition, MD Jussi Pihlajamäki
As regards the post of Vice Rector for Education, the following applicants will proceed to the interviews:

The UEF Board will select the Vice Rector candidates who will proceed to public hearings and the second interview by 20 May 2024.
The UEF Board will interview the top candidates twice: the first round of interviews will be held on 16 May and the second on 12 June 2024. At the events organised by the University Collegiate Body, the candidates will be heard by the university community on 27 May on the Kuopio campus and on 28 May on the Joensuu campus. The UEF Board will select the Vice Rectors at its meeting of 13 June 2024.
A total of 17 applications were received for the two posts of Vice Rector of the University of Eastern Finland from applicants who meet the eligibility criteria. Five of the applications concerned the post of Vice Rector for Research and 13 the post of Vice Rector for Education. One of the applicants applied for both posts.
