Embarking on a journey of academic pursuit, Jafar Iqbal at the University of Eastern Finland shares insights into his Master's in Environmental Policy and Law. With a background in environmental management and sustainability, he reflects on his motivations, favorite moments, and the unique experience of living in Joensuu.
Why did you decide to apply to UEF?
I am an environment and climate change professional with over six years of experience, focusing on environmental management, sustainability, and climate-resilient projects. During my work in Bangladesh, I developed a keen interest in international standards and policies. This led me to search for a similar program, and UEF stood out with its comprehensive international environmental policy and law degree.
What has been your favorite thing in your studies so far?
The well-articulated lectures, extensive resources in the library, and the interactive E Learn platform have been invaluable. The teaching methods and the availability of information and reading materials contribute to a positive learning experience.
What has been the best or the most memorable moment at UEF?
Being part of the Erasmus student network at UEF has widened my knowledge and facilitated networking with other students. The well-organized environment adds to the overall positive experience.
In addition Joensuu's small size and proximity to nature make it a unique and welcoming city. The ease of forming connections and friendships with fellow residents is noteworthy.
I plan to apply for a Ph.D. program at UEF. My positive experiences and the quality education received affirm that choosing UEF was the best decision of my life

What would you say to a prospective student who is thinking about applying to UEF?
