The VERA Bite-size seminar series continues with a presentation by Docent Kati Parppei:
“Total war against Russia”: the ”Collective West” According to the Russian Military Historical Society in 2022-23.
In her lecture, Dr Parppei gives us insights into Russia's propaganda that has during the last years intensified and become extremely hostile in nature.
Docent Kati Parppei is a historian from the Department of Geographical and Historical Studies of the University of Eastern Finland and her academic interests include the history of mentalities and ideas, Russian history and borderland issues. Her approach is of a cultural historian. She is especially interested in representations of the past, and the ways they have been used in, for instance, supporting nationalistic efforts.
Welcome!
The VERA Bitesize seminar series is designed to allow researchers at UEF interested in Russia, borders, and related themes to continue to share research ideas and findings. The seminars are organized on-site but, as that is not always possible, hybrid or webinar formats can also be negotiated. Visitors from outside UEF are also welcome to take part. If you wish to present, don't hesitate to contact Joni Virkkunen, email joni.virkkunen@uef.fi.
