The XXII Nordic Stroke Society Congress, an international scientific conference focusing on cerebrovascular disorders, will be held in Kuopio on 21–23 August 2023. Also attracting scholars, healthcare professionals and other experts of health to Kuopio is Kuopio Health Insights to be held on 20–21 August 2023.
Taking place at Kuopio City Theatre, the Nordic Stroke Society Congress will attract more than 400 participants from the Nordic and Baltic countries to Kuopio, providing them with the latest insight into the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of cerebrovascular disorders, as well as some examples of recent research. The congress boasts an impressive list of speakers, including Professor Bo Norrving of Lund University, whose keynote lecture will examine strategies to reduce cerebrovascular disorders and to improve their treatment in Europe. The programme also includes training sessions and a session aimed specifically at nurses and physical therapists working with patients with cerebrovascular disorders.
The congress is organised by the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio University Hospital and the Nordic Stroke Society, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Kuopio Health Insights focuses on health data and digital solutions
Held now for the second time, Kuopio Health Insights is aimed at healthcare professionals and health industry companies, with the first day being reserved for networking to promote collaboration, innovation and business activities. The second day of the event features presentations on the use of health data in research, as well as presentations on digital solutions for the health care and social welfare sector. Kuopio Health Insights is organised by the Kuopio Health innovation ecosystem, with the University of Eastern Finland as a partner.
Exchanging ideas on how to enhance clinical drug trials
The Nordic Stroke Society Congress and Kuopio Health Insights also have a joint session, on 21 August, addressing the organisation of clinical trials. The list of speakers includes Eero Rissanen, Director of Neurocenter Finland. The session will explore ways to boost national and international collaboration in order to further increase the competitiveness of Finnish clinical trials addressing cerebrovascular disorders.
