The Opening Ceremony of the University of Eastern Finland's Academic Year 2021–2022 will be held on Wednesday, 8 September 2021, at 2.15 p.m. in Auditorium AU100, Aurora building, Joensuu Campus. The ceremony will be streamed live on website.
In addition to an opening address to be delivered by the Rector Jukka Mönkkönen, the ceremony also features a speech by Chairman Erkki Liikanen, Honorary Doctor of Social Sciences from the University of Eastern Finland, who has had a long career in economics and politics. Also, the ceremony features a speech by Vesa Janhunen, Chair of the Executive Board of the Student Union.
The ceremony will be hosted by University Teacher Sanna Niskanen and Director of Language Centre Lauri Tolkki. The University of Eastern Finland Choir Joy will also perform in the event.
The ceremony will start with Opening Ceremony Time of Prayer at 1.00 p.m. Liturgy will be held by Sanna Kauppinen and Teemu Toivonen, and speech by Esko Ryökäs and Suvi-Maria Saarelainen. Music will be performed by Maria Takala-Roszczenko ja Varvara Merras-Häyrynen. You can also follow the prayer streamed live.
