The Karelia University of Applied Sciences, the Savonia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Eastern Finland have a joint mentoring programme, which has been running since 2018. The mentoring programme is based on a cooperation agreement signed between the institutions.
Mentoring is a popular method of competence development that is well suited to goal-oriented sharing of experiences, know-how, and cultural and tacit knowledge. The most typical form of mentoring is pair mentoring. Mentoring can take place within organisations or between the higher education institutions operating in Eastern Finland. The mentor may also be an alumnus or a working life partner of a higher education institution.
The main language of the mentoring programme is Finnish, but translation tools are used to ensure that non-Finnish speakers can also participate and benefit from the programme.
The mentoring programme 2024 - 2025:
Online training will be implemented for the mentors and the mentees as follows
Mentors: Tuesday 1 October 2024 at 13:00-15:00 (Teams)
Mentees: Thursday 3 October 2024 at 13:00-15:00 (Teams)
A face-to-face kick-off meeting between mentors and mentees will be held on Wednesday 30 October 2024 at 12:15-16:00 (the event location will be announced closer to the date and it will be held in either Joensuu or Kuopio).
The mentoring program also includes an online mid-term meeting on Wednesday 19 February 2025 at 13:00-15:00 (Teams)
The final event of the mentoring programme will be held face-to-face on Wednesday 14 May 2025 at 12:15-16:00 (the event location will be announced closer to the date and it will be held in either Joensuu or Kuopio)
