Course contents:
- General introduction to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Systems.
- General introduction to drone mapping.
- General information of collecting field data with drones.
- General instructions on processing drone images.
- How to process drone images with OpenDroneMap.
- Introduction to drone regulations in Finland and European Union.
After completing the course, the student:
- Has a good knowledge about Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's).
- Has good knowledge about drone mapping and processing methods.
- Can install and test an open-source drone image processing software.
- Can collect and process drone data.
- Has a good and clear understanding about drone laws and operational regulations in Finland and the EU.
Modes of study: Self-learning in DigiCampus platform. The self-assessment multi-choice questions are automated whole the final assignment is assessed by a teacher.
Teaching methods: Online materials, computer lab work, final assignment.

The course is available online between Aug 1st, 2024 and July 30th, 2025. Completed course is assessed and study attainment published every other month. Open university students' study right will be valid until July 30th. Please note that if you complete the course in July, you will get the grade in September.

NOTE! There will be a break in processing registrations between December 21, 2024 and January 6, 2025. Registrations received during this period will be processed as soon as possible after the break.
Study units cost 20 € / ECTS credit. This price holds for the academic year 2024-2025.
