Contents: The role of special education in society. Special education environments and organising support in Finland and globally. The role of special education in the life cycle.
At the end of the course, the student
- is able to structure the operating environments of special education at different stages of life
- identify Finnish and global education and learning support systems
- will be able to reflect critically on concepts related to disability and diversity in society
- identify the prerequisites for accessible operating environments in society
Study methods:
A) Online learning assignment based on literature in eLearn Moodle (3 ECTS), 81 h of independent work.
and
B) Online exam in eLearn Moodle based on electronic learning material (2 ECTS), 54 h of independent work.

The course can be studied from February 10 to April 30, 2025.
The study fee is 20 € per ECTS credit for individual courses. The study fee is paid at registration.

By paying the study fee, the student receives a temporary right to study that entitles them to attend a particular course. The right to study is course-specific, and is required to complete the course as specified in the syllabus for the term, covering both teaching and course exams. If the course is continuously open for registration, the maximum time to complete the course is from 1 August to 31 July for that academic year.
