Learning outcomes:

The student can greet others, introduce themselves, give a brief description of themselves and ask and provide information in Finnish. The student understands simple spoken and written messages and can produce them themselves. The student knows the most important features of Finnish and knows something about the Finnish way of life. The student knows basic vocabulary and structures.

The objective is to attain the level A1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference.

The course does not require previous Finnish studies. The course is aimed for complete beginners.

Study methods: Online lectures, independent online study, and finishing assignments. Successful completion of the course requires the completion of course assignments within the specified schedule and a passing grade in the final exam.

Schedules: This course will be organized from September 17 to October 24. Online teaching on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 14-16 (on 17.9., 19.9., 26.9., 1.10., 10.10., 22.10.). Active participation to the lectures is needed to successfully complete the course.

The study fee is 20 euros per ECTS credit. The study fee is paid at registration. The price holds for the academic year 2024-2025. Please find more information: Registration, study fees and right to study | University of Eastern Finland (uef.fi)

By paying the study fee, the student receives a temporary right to study that entitles them to attend a particular course. The right to study is course-specific, and is required to complete the course as specified in the curriculum, covering both teaching and course exams.

II Proceed to identify yourself using the Suomi.fi service, fill in your personal information to the registration form, confirm your registration and pay the study fees. If you cannot use the Suomi.fi service, please contact our student affairs secretary, their information can be found below.

III Your registration will typically be processed in 2-5 working days. During peak registration periods, this may take up to 10 days. After this period, you will get an automatic message which includes a link to the starting instructions. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.  

 

If you do not have a UEF username, you will also get instructions for activating one. Access rights will be added to your username when your study right begins.
