Learning outcomes
During this course, students:
- will get familiar with the concepts of society, individual, societal change, and modern society
- will be encouraged to think how societies operate
- will gain a general understanding on the concepts of inequality and stratification
- will improve their skills on critical thinking
After this course, students can:
- reflect on what constitutes society and how societies operate
- reflect on the relationship between society and individual
- explain what ‘society’, ‘individual’, ‘modern society’, ‘societal change’ and ‘social inequality’ mean in social sciences
Content
The course provides an overview on what constitutes society and takes a look at the relationship of individual and society. A major aim in the course is equipping students with the lens of social science that magnifies social relations and patterns of organization in the examinations of society.

This course is suitable for international students.
The study fee for individual courses is 20 e/ECTS credit and 15 e/ECTS credit for study modules. This price holds for the academic year 2024–2025.
