Eligibility and required documents
To verify your eligibility, you must upload copies of your educational documents, proof of language proficiency, and any other program-specific attachments to your electronic application. At this stage, only scanned copies are required; paper copies are not necessary. Follow the instructions provided on Studyinfo, and ensure all documents are uploaded by the specified deadline, as UEF will not process any application documents submitted late.
Make sure each document is uploaded to the correct section of the application form. University of Eastern Finland evaluates the authenticity of your educational certificates. Any malpractice (e.g. counterfeit documents or fraudulent information) will be reported to the authorities.
All master’s degree applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree that corresponds to at least three years of full-time academic studies from a higher education institution. The degree should 1) entitle the applicant to apply for master’s studies in the country where it was awarded 2) be in the same or a related field of study as the master's program the applicant is applying to.
Educational documents
You are required to submit the following educational documents:
- the scanned copy of the original degree certificate (in the original language) and an English, Finnish or Swedish translation
- the scanned copy of the original transcript of records (in the original language) and an English, Finnish or Swedish translation
If these documents are issued in a language other than English, Finnish, or Swedish, official translations into one of these languages are required. All translations must be completed by either the degree-awarding institution or an authorized translator. Each page of the translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact copies of the original documents. Self-translated documents will not be accepted.
If your eligibility for a master’s degree is based on studies completed at multiple institutions - such as a Higher National Diploma (HND) combined with a one-year Bachelor’s degree - you must submit educational documents (transcripts and degree certificates) covering all your studies.
Temporary degree certificates are also accepted. More information on required documents.
Conditional acceptance
You can apply even if you have not graduated by the end of the application period. In this case, you are required to submit your most recent official transcript of records during the application period. If you receive your degree certificate and final transcript during the application period, it is recommended that you submit these documents as well. Temporary (provisional) degree certificates are also accepted at application stage. Your acceptance will be conditional if you apply with a degree that is not finished during the application period.
Students are also conditionally accepted if their degree has been completed outside Finland. Students are required to send the verified degree certificate and transcript of records to the university after acceptance by 30th of May 2025. We will assess the eligibility and authenticity of educational certificates for all applicants. More information on verification of official documents
