3 new Academy Projects, 2 new Academy Research Fellows, 1 new Academy Postdoctoral Researcher in natural sciences and engineering at UEF

Funding granted by the Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering to UEF researchers amounts to more than 2.1 million euros.

The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering announced today that it will grant funding to three new Academy Projects, two new Academy Research Fellows and one new Academy Postdoctoral Researcher at UEF. All in all, the Research Council’s funding to UEF amounts to more than 2.1 million euros.

In the selection of the Academy Projects, the Research Council emphasised scientific quality, novelty, breakthrough potential and feasibility. In the selection of the Academy Research Fellows and Postdoctoral Researchers, on the other hand, the Research Council emphasised the personal competence of the applicants and the scientific quality of the research projects.

The Research Council granted funding to a total of 72 Academy Projects, which include more than a hundred subprojects and with the total funding amounting to around 44 million euros. The overall number of new Academy Research Fellow posts was 22, with their total funding coming to around 10 million euros. The number of new Postdoctoral Researcher posts was 44, with their funding totalling around 11 million euros.

Tuomo Laitinen’s project, Natural phenolic compounds as membrane modifiers to decrease biofouling problems / Consortium: PheMeMo, was granted 323,969 euros of funding.

Olli Sippula’s project, Black and Brown Carbon in the Atmosphere and the Cryosphere / Consortium: BBrCaC, was granted 200,000 euros of funding.

Yuri Svirko’s project, Tunable THz Chiral Metamaterials, was granted 477 117 euros of funding.

 

Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering: new Academy Research Fellows at UEF (in alphabetical order)

Eliisa Lotsari’s project, Defrosting Sedimentary Systems: the Impacts on the Evolution and Material Transport of Seasonally Frozen High-latitude Rivers (DefrostingRivers), was granted 447,650 euros of funding.

Petr Alexandrovich Obraztsov’s project, Ultrafast Photonics of Hybrid Perovskites, UPHYPE, was granted 447,650 euros of funding.

 

Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering: new Academy Postdoctoral Researcher at UEF

Hana Vrzáková’s project, MicroDuet: Interpersonal Synchrony in Dual Microsurgical Performance in the Operating Room, was granted 249,890 euros of funding.
