The Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering at the Academy of Finland has made decisions on new Academy Projects to receive funding. Four new projects from the University of Eastern Finland were selected, with their overall funding amounting to 1,761,590 euros, i.e. 3.9% of the total funding awarded.

Associate Professor Roman Bednarik: Next generation sensory monitoring for improving microsurgical skills and performance, 382 440 euros
Professor Timo Kumpula: Land use as a modulator of land cover transitions and the ecosystem–atmosphere carbon balance (LANDMOD), 584,090 euros

Utrafast Imaging with tailored electromagnetic radiation, 395,288 euros
Associate Professor Mikko Vastaranta/ Consortium: Density4Trees
Understanding Wood Density Variation Within and Between Trees Using Multispectral Point Cloud Technologies and X-ray microdensitometry, 399,772 euros
The projects include a total of 102 subprojects. The total funding granted amounts to 45,7 million euros.
