Coronavirus infections at Teacher Training School

Three pupils of Länsikatu School were diagnosed with a coronavirus infection during last week and over the weekend. On Monday 23 August, there were pupils from second, third and fourth grade classes in quarantine or waiting for a decision, approximately 120 people in total. The school staff and the pupils’ guardians have been informed of potential exposures. Quarantine decisions may be delayed due to the backlog of cases which require contact tracing. Remote teaching and meal distribution will be arranged for the quarantined groups of pupils.

One person has also been diagnosed with coronavirus infection at Rantakylä School on 23 August. Face masks have been worn at the school, so no pupils will be quarantined. A few staff members may have been exposed to the coronavirus, and Siun sote will contact them.

The face mask recommendation applies at the school to pupils in fourth grade and higher, with the school providing the masks. Younger pupils will also be provided with a face mask at their own request or at the request of their guardian.
