The Finnish Foundations’ Post Doc Pool awarded, on 30 November 2023, 1.64 million euros in grants to 32 postdoctoral scholars for research abroad. Altogether 117 postdoctoral researchers from around Finland took part in the spring application round, and a grant could thus be awarded to 27% of the applicants. At the University of Eastern Finland, Project Researcher Katarzyna Wisniewska at the School of Humanities was awarded a grant of 40,000 euros by the Finnish Cultural Foundation for research in the field of linguistics.
The Foundations’ Post Doc Pool was established in 2009. In the current period from 2022 to 2024, the Pool is set up by the Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation, Emil Aaltonen Foundation, Alfred Kordelin Foundation, Foundation for Economic Education, Päivikki and Sakari Sohlberg Foundation, Finnish Academy for Science and Letters, Finnish Cultural Foundation, Finnish Medical Foundation, Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, Society of Swedish Literature in Finland, Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation and Ulla Tuominen Foundation, which allocate 3,250,000 euros to the Pool annually.
The Pool’s next application round will take place from 1 until 31 January 2024, when some 1.6 million euros will be given in grants.
