Professor Olga Davydova-Minguet from KTL will lead an international team in the project Transnational death: practices of death and remembrance in the transnational everyday on the Finnish-Russian border. The project studies phenomena related to transnational death among Russian-speaking migrants in the Finnish-Russian borderland. Through data collected online and ‘offline’, the study addresses topical themes of human worth, belonging and conviviality in the context of close but strained neighbourhoods.
Apart from Prof. Davydova-Minguet, the team includes Assistant Professor Pekka Metso, Senior Researchers Pirjo Pöllänen and Ismo Björn, Researcher Oleg Reut and PhD Student Teemu Oivo. The project, which received a grant of ap. €500,000, starts in September 2021 and ends in August 2025.
