The University of Eastern Finland succeeded, once again, well in the University Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), organised for the second time this year. The ranking results were published today.
THE’s University Impact Rankings assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The activities of the University of Eastern Finland have best promoted the SDG relating to climate action, in which the university was ranked 68th. In the SDG relating to good health and well-being, and in the SDG relating to responsible consumption and production, the University of Eastern Finland was ranked in the range 101–200. In the SDG relating to quality education, the university was ranked in the range 201–300. This year, the ranking included a total of 766 universities.
At the University of Eastern Finland, impact has been promoted by the university’s strong fields in education and research, as well as by the university’s activities as an institution. UEF has taken the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into consideration in its activities for a long time already.
“The university’s researchers have also been actively involved in making an impact, generating knowledge to support societal decision-making. These actions have played a role in strengthening the university’s overall impact,” Rector Jukka Mönkkönen says.
