Autumn 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the teaching of English at the University of Joensuu. From a humble start, the subject has developed into one of the most significant and international teaching and research units in Finland. The English section at the UEF School of Humanities has ca. 20 teachers and researchers, and the annual intake of students is close to 100.
To celebrate the anniversary, the English section organizes a special anniversary seminar, where former and current staff and students reflect on the past and look into the future. Joensuu Campus Library will also organize a book exhibition displaying the scientific output of English scholars.
