Seminars in Health Sciences series continues with a lecture by Professor Sampsa Hautaniemi from University of Helsinki.
The seminar is titled: Characterizing and overcoming therapy resistance in ovarian cancer.
Professor Sampsa Hautaniemi graduated from Tampere University of Technology as Doctor of Technology 2003 after which he worked as a post-doctoral associate in the Lauffenburger lab in MIT. He established his research group in Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki in 2006 and was promoted as a professor of systems biology in 2013. Currently, his research group consists of 20 scientists. He is director of the Research Program in Systems Oncology (ONCOSYS) and coordinates EU Horizon 2020 project DECIDER. Professor Hautaniemi’s research focuses on developing and applying computational methods to understand and overcome drug resistance in cancer. His research integrates multi-omics data, machine learning, and mathematical modeling to analyze complex biological systems, particularly in ovarian cancer.
The seminar is organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland and the event is open to everyone interested.
