Individual arrangements in the entrance examination
If you need individual arrangements in the entrance examination, such as more time to complete the exam, or any technical aid, due to injury, illness, dyslexia or any other specific reason, you must apply for the individual arrangements in writing. The application is accompanied by a medical certificate or another equivalent statement on the nature of the injury or illness or, for example, on dyslexia.
The application must be accompanied by a copy of a certificate or statement (e.g. a medical certificate) indicating the grounds on which the individual arrangements are requested. The certificate or statement accompanying the application shall:
- include grounds for individual arrangements,
- state clearly which individual arrangements are recommended to you,
- include your personal data,
- include the name and position of the person issuing the certificate or statement (professional/expert role), and
- include the date.
The validity of statements is considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the persistence of the disability, illness or learning disability. In the case of dyslexia, statements obtained at or after the age of 16 shall be considered.
If you are applying for more time due to dyslexia, you must include a statement from a trained expert, such as a special education teacher, psychologist, speech therapist or a healthcare professional (e.g. neurologist or phonetician). The statement shall state that, in the event of dyslexia, the applicant needs supportive measures to complete the examination.
The University may accept the decision of the Finnish Matriculation Examination Board in relation to dyslexia without a medical certificate or statement, if the certificate shows that the applicant has been granted individual arrangements for the completion of the matriculation examination.
