Researchers from the Karelian Institute protest Russia’s attack on Ukraine and express support for colleagues in Ukraine and Russia who condemn the attack.

The doctoral dissertation in the Human Geography will be examined at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies at Joensuu Campus and online.

“Instead of planning for growth, regions with a dwindling population should learn to adapt to shrinkage,” says Teemu Makkonen, UEF’s newly appointed Professor of Regional Research and Economic Geography.

The Äly Project maps change management and new opportunities in Finnish regions and municipalities with shrinking and aging population.

“It is not every day that I run across a postdoctoral programme which captures the main focus of my research, field of science and theoretical approach,” says Rodrigo Bueno Lacy.
